TOPIC: Hogan IPT Irons

Hogan IPT Irons 11 months, 3 weeks ago #34073

I was wondering if anyone has any insight on a set of Ben Hogan IPT irons I found for sale. The info I have on them is a 2-9 iron and e wedge Series N12353, as well as 1-4 Wood "Speed Slot 403." Apologies if I should post this in the Club Collectors area, but I would like to try playing with them...I think they are asking $75 for the set.

I have included some photos...

Thanks for any comments!

Early Hogan registration numbers taken from September 1963 export catalogue:

1963 From N00001 to S ...........
1962 from K00003 to M............
1961 from F00002 to J40093
1960 from C00013 to E69863
1959 from B1101 to B21520

Swing weights available in 1963 related to shafts:

Hogan A shaft "flexible" D0,D1,D2,D3
Hogan R shaft "Medium" D1,D2,D3,D4
Hogan S shaft "stiff" D1,D2,D3,D4
Hogan N shaft "personal - light, stiff shaft" D1,D2,D3,D4
Hogan L shaft "lady" C6,C7,C8

Also a Hogan W shaft for some of the women's clubs....and Junior clubs (aged 10-14) ....and True Temper junior shafts in the "llittle Ben" line for ages 6-10.

I have 2 set of IPT... seem to have variable degrees of offset...not sure if that is a modification after it left the factory or if it was the original design.

Interestingly I Knew that the N shaft was marketed as the Hogan personal model with stiff shaft (presume a way of getting Ben's personal set up) but had overlooked the "light" part of the specification.

Golfbulldog,

Thank you for the info, meant to reply sooner...I did get the clubs, shafts are far too short for me to play, but original grips and all, cool to look at...

thanks again...

Matthew, beautiful find. Golfbulldog, if you're presumably getting Mr. Hogan's personal setup in irons, they would be heavy stiff, wouldn't they?
