Blades v Cavity.......... Group Forum: Which do you prefer ?

I see a lot more club golfers returning to Blades.....is this a mistake or are the modern day blades actually easier to hit than the ones from the 90's.....? Would welcome your thoughts....

TOPIC: Looking for Some old Hogan Apex Irons

Looking for Some old Hogan Apex Irons 2 years, 10 months ago #2655

I've been looking around for some old Hogan Apex Irons. I've found a few "classic" sets on ebay, but the prices we're Way too high. Anyone perhaps have an old set that they'd be willing to sell?

Re:Looking for Some old Hogan Apex Irons 2 years, 10 months ago #2663

I have a set of 1983 Radial's and a set of 1971 Bounce Sole (same design as the 1972 Apex).

How much you looking to spend?

I have one set of Hogan's but, not selling them, I will keep my eye out though for you. I am cleaning out my closet of all the stuff I don't use, if anyone is interested in what I have give me a shout.

Hi mate,

What do you have for sale ?

Re:Looking for Some old Hogan Apex Irons 2 years, 10 months ago #2668

Well, being a student, I know this is pushing it but 100 dollars is it. I understand thats not much for some real classic irons.

I just bought a set of Apex II's in very good shape for $70.00 at a local golf shop. Keep looking, you'll find some.

Corey,

I've got a set of Hogan Apex BH Grinds(2-PW)from circa 1989-1990, Hogan Apex 5 shafts. They are in decent shape, the faces show wear and tear from regular usage. Send me a message. If you want them, they are yours for nothing...all I ask is that you cover the cost of shipping.

I am also looking for a set of vintage Ben Hogan Apex irons! If anyone comes across anything PLEASE let me know. My all-time fav is the '53 Precisions, but those are rare to come by; or the '57 306-i Precisions,1+ Bounce Soles or regular Apex Bounce Soles, PowerThrusts, IPT's, or PTIII, Percussions or PC's, Medallions, '72 Apex, and Apex II's are also really nice.

I'm starting a collection of vintage clubs--all of which I use--and so far I have a set of BH 'Grind's, and Redline FT's. BTW, whoever won the 'Tell a Friend' contest and got those 1+ Bounce Soles, I will buy those off of you in a second!!! They were absolutely b-e-a-utiful baby.

If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!

Keep Diggin',

JN

Dave,

Do you still have those '71 Bounce Soles? If so I would likely be interested in purchasing them. Please let me know.

Thanx,

JN

Re:Looking for Some old Hogan Apex Irons 1 year, 6 months ago #20613

JN,

I still have them. 3 through Equalizer if i remember correctly. Original grips and shafts (well, grips look original at least).

Let me know,
Dave

Jon and others,

I am re-focusing my collection of vintage Hogan clubs on the sets I would like to play and clearing out the rest.

I have a set of '67 percussion center irons I'd like to sell.

I also have a BEAUTIFUL set of '58 sunburst irons and woods and putter (same head design as the Precisions.

I'd love to do a trade for a mint set of 60 or 61 power thrusts.

I also have some Hogan Experimental woods, including a set of woods that are probably among the earliest the company ever made, and some experimental long hosel precision irons. If anyone is serious about collecting rare Hogan stuff, those are available (for the right price).

Cheers,
Drew

I'm interested in the 58's Drew. Can you message me?

Unused for past 30 + years.

PM if interested.

I have a staff set of 1972 Apex irons that have been reshafted with Rifles, but the original shafts would come with the set as well.

I am ashamed to say I once had a set of bounce Soles that me and my dad found in a car boot sale when I was young and bought for no more than a £10. Sadly im my brainwashed state as a youth where I believed new was better I threw them away as the shafts were beginning to warp and I didn't think they warranted replacing.

I shall now hang my head in shame and admit I still cry myself to sleep sometimes.

I have a set of Hogan Apex BH Grind irons for sale. I have the 2 iron thru PW with the stock Hogan Stiff shafts. They are in fair condition. The serial number on the shafts is UA1163 and right now I am trying to find out exactly when I bought them which I did brand new but cannot remember how many years ago. If this sounds like something you are looking for please contact me.

Re: Looking for Some old Hogan Apex Irons 1 year, 1 month ago #29914

Give me a call. My brother in Illinois has a Hogan Apex BH Grind 2-PW with serial numbers on the shafts. Got to be at least 20 years old or more. But not sure and only the serial number will tell me their age. My number is 808-383-5867 and I live in Hawaii. Hours in time from the lower 48 so please call during the day and not in the early early morning. We are 3 hours behind the west coast and 6 hours from the east coast. Thanks

I am looking for a set of Hogan irons Apex (on sole, frosted back) produced from1973 - 1978. About 40 years ago when I was a kid vacationing in Florida, I found an E iron (PW?) left by some golfer in the rough off of a green. I hit a few shots (sweet feel, very well designed1973 - 1979 Hogan Apex (Frosted Back)) with that club before turning it in to the clubhouse.

I wish that I had keep that club.

Dennis,

I agree that these are very sweet clubs. I own a set of '73 Apex, 1-E with #4 shafts, but couldn't bring myself to sell them. Been playing them on and off for over 35 years. They're like children ... they don't always do what you want them to, but you still love them just the same!

Good luck with your search.
