Martin Ayers Group Forum: A group for everyone to discuss my teaching methods. I have based what I teach on many lessons learned both through mentors of mine and by looking at some of the greats of the game. Particularly going back into previous eras, where I believe much of what was learned has been forgotten. There has been many advancements made in Golf, but I believe for every one of those there has been a corresponding piece of wisdom lost.

I'm always open to new ideas, so if you have one, feel free to share it in the group forum, you'll find all kinds of views are welcome.

TOPIC: Martin's Methods-Dynamic

Martin's Methods-Dynamic 3 years ago #1607

I want to welcome all to Martin's forum. I was fortunate enough to discuss Martin on Youtube about 3 months ago. I have been a seeker all of my golfing life, and I can honestly say Martin has the answers or is headed down the right path. I will let Martin reveal his methods on this site as he deems appropriate, but the most fundamental revelation to mention up front is the fact that Martin's method teach golf as a dynamic motion. He doesn't just teach positions. Indeed, the positions of Martin's golf swing are conventiional. The fact of the matter is that two golfers can look very similar yet there is so much going on differently in their swings. You will learn to see these differences as Martin reveals his method.

Good luck to all who decide to embark on this journey with Martin. You will really enjoy the ride!!!!!

Re:Martin's Methods-Dynamic 3 years ago #1612

Well said NFB! Martin's focus on dynamics unlocks the athlete inside us. He has a unique ability to convey the science behind his ideas into tangible feels and illustrations that, as a 'player', I find extremely useful for bettering my game and understanding.

Re:Martin's Methods-Dynamic 3 years ago #1613

And a ride it is. Heart to target, full of intent, completely contained, tipped back, slinging and around the corner. And that's just the pub experience....

Gentlemen. This is the stuff you've been seeking. Thank you dirters for providing a hill for Martin's light to shine.

Martin's the best. A true teacher who listens & relates as well to high handicappers as scratch. Pay attention to him- you will get better for it.

Okay, we've got the PR. Now it's time for some links. Otherwise the rest of us will be in the dark.

Struggling for years, then this comes out of nowhere (well Australia is ALMOST nowhere). Must be the different coriolis effects - Diametrically Opposed Circular Forces.

Hi,
just wondering if you managed to fix the pushes with your driver, I've been practising the expansion and am hitting my irons as sweet as a nut, my 3 wood is pretty good as well. When it comes to the driver, I'm currently going between a straight push to the right and a weak draw.

Have you had any success or come to any conclusions on where to focus with the "Big Dog"

Cheers

Martin this is a great video message, one that I've looked at before, both on a personal level while hanging weighted neckties around me...and....commenting about it previously on the forum after first seeing the video a while back.

I keep coming back to this one video, as it is straight to the point, especially about spine extension.

A corollary of sorts between Al Geiberger claiming the swing has only one fast moment, and now your video which could also claim the swing has only one spine extension...and we better know where and how to proceed in doing that.

Good stuff Martin...especially the mammary humping.

That was my MP 67 8i....which I still use. To this day I still haven't hit it anywhere close to where Martin was hitting it - perhaps I will one day

I have seen this happen before where students praise their teacher at first and two years later they go chasing another rabbit...

Festus...good point on the 'one' extension. Personally I think, and this video explains it, that the swing brings the body into the shot. I want to contain the outward forces, but I want to do it with 'where I am' guaranteeing the containment of the outward forces....as opposed to having to unduly work against them. Yes, you can keep everything under control with your body out of position...but you have to manage ALL of the forces ALL of the time and the amount increases with the longer clubs and gets more difficult.

Still image-searching Martin relative to your concepts, so I can have my own bank of awareness and sensations.

Thought you may enjoy this one a bit, and oddly enough it's called a 'zero turn'. I ride these puppys several days a week and never gave much thought to it until the other day when it dawned on me that pressures are split in opposite directions right down the middle of the mower ( us ) to garner the turn.

Pressures inward becoming part of me- gathering energy- and the cumulative stored energy never leaves the cumulative composite in the torso while turning around the other way. The energy travels, yet it never leaves us.

Hi Martin. Love to hear your take on lateral or side bending in the swing
as I came across this fascinating article recently THE SPINE DRIVEN
SWING. I posted a link as there are some photos as well. Esp
curious if these spine positions are automatically achieved doing
THE MOST POWERFUL MOVE?? Always enjoy your insights.
