On this day in 1961, Arnold Palmer won his second Baton Rouge Open in a row. He shot 68-66 over the final 36 holes to win the title by 7 shots over Wes Ellis. Palmer won six tournaments during his 1961 campaign.
In total, Palmer won 95 professional events during his career, and had 26 wins as an amateur. He holds all of the major titles except for the PGA championship, which he came in second 3 different times.
