14 yrs old my first hole out from the fairway was a 100 yard wedge at the original Austin Country Club, where Harvey Penick was the first professional. I was hooked that day.

Can we show the interlocking grip some love? I know its not the most widely used grip around here, ahem, Mr. Hogan didn't use it afterall. But I came to golf watching Jack N. and like him I have medium sized hands so for 30 years its been the grip for me. I've tried variations of the Vardon grip for the last year that I've been at SITD Just for kicks today I went back to my old grip, POW!

Michael, I just submarine pitched a quick nine holes. 2 bogeys 2 birdies 7 greens no hooks, repeat no HOOKS. Thanks a million for the reminder to release up.

  • From a seasoned hooker:

To play when my best swings barely draw is scary.
To play when my worse swings barely draw, that's divine.

That's what's on my mind today.

Grady, I was inspired by your "cutting it left" video. Completely different release. Hit 13 greens today, shot 72. I'm pretty pumped!
  • Andy F Three tiers of golf balls like three sets of tee boxes. Wow, this could spice things up a bit. http://www.golfweek.com/news/2011/dec/19/ping-ceo-makes-bold-pitch-over-golf-balls/

  • Andy F A spot on the face hits a spot on the ball to a spot on the course. Trying to keep it simple. Fun stuff!

  • Andy F Its refreshing when golfers new to the Dirt jump in and add their perspectives, insights, and gleanings they have learned through their years of playing this game, usually many, many years. Especially cool when they relay something that they learned from renowned teachers of old. Thanks Mr. Prentice.
